Steamed Lettuce Salad With Sizzling Hot Oil

Ingredients

Iceberg lettuce 1/4
Shallots (finely chopped) 1-2
Parsley (finely chopped) 1 tbsp
Lemon juice as required
Vegetable oil 2 tbsp
Salt as you like

Method

Put the lettuce into a steamer.

Squeeze in the lemon juice - this will keep it looking nice and green. Put the lid on and steam on high heat for 1-2 minutes.

In the meantime, heat the oil in a frying pan until it's very hot and smoking.

Here is the just steamed green lettuce. Transfer from the steamer to a serving dish.

Sprinkle the shallots and parsley over the top.

Pour over the hot sizzling oil and sprinkle salt if you like.

Tips & Note

You can enjoy with your favourite dressing or sauce. Be very careful when you pour over the hot oil because it may splash off the shallots or parsley.
