Sweet-Coated Swede and Celeriac (Kinpira)

Ingredients

Swede 1/4
Celeriac 1/4
Carrot (medium) 1
●Soy sauce 1 tbsp
●Sake (or white wine) 1 tbsp
●Mirin 1 tbsp
●Sugar 1 tbsp
Cayenne pepper as you like
Sesame seeds as you like

Method

This is a swede, when it's cooked, it becomes so sweet.

This is a celeriac, a unique vegetable with a strong aroma.

Peel the swede, celeriac and carrot and cut into 3mm long strips.

Put the sesame oil into a frying pan and stir fry the root vegetables. When cooked, add all the ●ingredients.

Keep frying for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow to cook on residual heat. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.

Tips & Note

You can enjoy the different tastes of the different vegetables, so it's better to make the coating a bit less concentrated so that you can actually taste the vegetables.
