Daikon Mochi (Mooli Cake) with Mustard Soy Sauce

A great vegetable side dish and also good as a snack.

Ingredients

Daikon radish (mooli) 500g
Crushed sesame seeds 1 tbsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Pepper 1/3 tsp
Potato starch (or cornflour) 5-6 tbsp (or 10 tbsp)
Spring onions 2
Sesame oil 1 tbsp
Soy sauce as required
English mustard as required

Method

Peel the daikon radish and coarsely grate it.

If there is a lot of moisture, squeeze it gently. Add the finely chopped spring onions, salt & pepper and potato starch and mix well.

Roll gently into 6-7 of light fluffy balls with your hand.

Put the sesame oil in a frying pan and add the balls into the pan. Press down lightly to make cakes and fry on both sides for a total of 6-7 minutes on medium heat until nice and brown.

Serve them with some soy sauce mixed with English mustard and enjoy!
