Turnip & Sausage Pot au Feu

A lovely warming dish on a cold winter's day.

Ingredients

Turnips (small) 3
Turnip leaves 3
Potato (large) 1
Onion (large) 1
Carrot (small) 1
Chipolata sausages 6
Bacon 50g
Dashi stock 4 tbsp
Water 2-3 cups
Salt a little
Pepper a little
Parsley as you like
Mustard as you like

Method

Cut the vegetables to bitesize pieces.

Cut the bacon into small strips and score the chipolatas in a criss cross.

Put all the ingredients from Steps 1 and 2 into a pan. Add the water and dashi stock on medium heat and season with salt.

When it boils, remove the scum, turn down to low heat and simmer until all the vegetables are soft.

Add the chopped turnip leaves 3 minutes before turning the heat off.

Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley and some pepper. Enjoy with some mustard.

Tips & Note

Just simmer gently, but keep an eye on it.
