Simmered Mackerel with Pink Radish (Saba Daikon)

The radishes have a lovely warm taste of the mackerel.

Ingredients

Tinned mackerel in teriyaki sauce 1
Radishes 1 pack
Sake 1 tbsp
Water 4 tbsp
Chives as required
Oil a little

Method

This is the Tesco mackerel in teriyaki sauce - it tastes so Japanese!

Cut the radishes in half anf finely chop the chives.

Put the oil in a pan and add the radishes and fry on medium heat for 15 minutes with the lid on.

When the radishes are browned, pour over the sake and add the water and tinned mackerel juice. Simmer for 5 minutes before adding the mackerel.

When the sauce is thickened, turn off the heat and sprinkle with chives before serving.

Tips & Note

●Try not to break the mackerel when you remove it from the tin
●The radishes will absorb the flavour if you can let the ready dish sit for a while
