Serves 4 Cook: 10 min

Ingredients

Beef fillet 500g
Vegetable oil as required
Rocket as required
Tomatoes as required
Mooli (grated) 5-10cm
Wasabi as required
Sauce recipe
Light soy sauce 1/2 cup
Vinegar 1/2 cup
Mirin 4 tbsp
Salt & pepper as required

Method

1
Season the beef with salt & pepper. Mix together all the sauce ingredients (from soy sauce to salt & pepper).
2
Heat a deep frying pan and add the oil. Fry the beef on both sides to get a good colour. Turn the heat to low.
3
Cover the beef with foil and cook until medium rare.
4
Transfer the beef to a dish with the sauce and allow to soak.
5
Slice the beef and arrange on a serving dish and garnish with the wasabi, rocket, tomato and grated mooli.

Tips & Note

●The length of cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the meat and the pan, so use a general rule for medium rare of cooking on each side for 1 minute on high heat, then turn down to low and cook for a further 5 minutes on the second side. Don't overcook it. If in doubt, turn off the heat and cook on residual heat if you see the meat start to burn.
