Pork & Vegetable Sesame Soup

Super simple and a lovely nutty flavour with lots of vegetables.

Ingredients

Pointed cabbage 1/2
Green beans 10
Beansprouts 1/2 pack
Pork belly 200g
Garlic 1 clove
Ginger 1 thumb
Sesame oil 1 tbsp
Water 3 cups
Sake 50ml
Sesame paste 2 tbsp
Light soy sauce 1 tbsp
Salt & pepper a little

Method

Cut the cabbage into bitesize pieces. Chop the green beans into half lengthways.

If the pork belly is thinly sliced, cut into 3mm pieces, if it's a block, cut into 5-10mm pieces.

Finely chop the garlic and ginger.

Put the sesame oil in a frying pan and fry the garlic and ginger on low heat.

Add the pork and fry until browned. Add the cabbage and green beans.

Fry for a few minutes before adding the water and sake. Put the lid on and simmer for 5-6 minutes on low heat. Add the beansprouts and cook again for 1 minute.

Add the soy sauce and turn the heat off. Add the sesame paste and mix in. Season with salt & pepper.

Tips & Note

●You can add tinned beans such as chickpeas or mixed beans, tofu is also delicious.
