Sauteed & Simmered Celery & Peppers (Kinpira)

The crunch celery and flavourful peppers are the perfect vegetables for this sweet and spicy side dish.

Ingredients

Celery 80g
Red pepper 1
Green pepper 1
Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
Dried chilli (sliced) 1-2 tsp
Sesame seeds as you like
Soy sauce 1 tbsp
Mirin 1 tbsp
Sugar 1 tsp

Method

Remove the fibres from the celery and cut into fine diagonal slices. Cut the peppers into half, deseed and finely slice into strips.

Put the oil in a frying pan and add the dried chilli. Add the vegetables from Step 1 and fry until softened.

Add all the sauce ingredients and stir fry well. When the liquid has reduced, transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Tips & Note

You can adjust how much dried chilli you use depending on your preference.
