Ingredients

Your favourite steaks 250g
Salt & pepper as required
Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
Butter 1 tsp
Wasabi sauce:
Soy sauce 3 tbsp
Sake 1 tbsp
Mirin (or golden syrup) 1 tbsp
Butter 1 tbsp (20g)
Wasabi paste 1 tbsp

Method

1
Season the steaks with salt & pepper and keep aside for 5 minutes. Put the vegetable oil and butter in a frying pan and add the steaks.
2
Fry on medium heat for 3 minutes on each side, then transfer to a plate with some kitchen paper, allowing to cook on residual heat.
3
Remove any excess oil from the frying pan, then add the sake and allow the alcohol to evaporate. Add the other wasabi sauce seasonings and mix to dissolve. Simmer to reduce by half.
4
Your steak should be nicely pink - slice as you like, transfer to a serving dish and pour over lots of wasabi sauce. Enjoy with buttered rice or chips!
