Grilled Tomatoes in Japanese Dashi Sauce

Ingredients

Tomatoes 4
Onion 1/2
Sugar 1/2 tbsp
Mirin 1 tbsp
Soy sauce 1.5 tbsp
Sake 1 tsp
Vinegar 1 tbsp
Vegetable oil 2 tbsp
Bonito flakes as required

Method

Finely slice the onion and mix with the sugar, mirin, soy sauce, sake, vinegar and vegetable oil and keep for 15 minutes.

Grill the tomatoes on a very hot griddle pan for 7-8 minutes on each side.

Transfer to a plate and pour the sauce from Step 1 over the tomatoes. Garnish with the bonito flakes before serving.

Tips & Note

●You can cook under the grill or in a frying pan if you don't have a griddle pan. Don't move the tomatoes while they cook
