Pan Fried Rice Balls Wrapped in Pastrami

A traditional speciality from Miyazaki in Japan, I looked for the same meat they use but found pastrami to be the closest.

Serves 2 Prep: 10 min Cook: 10 min

Ingredients

Cooked rice for 1
Korean barbecue sauce 5 tbsp
Pastrami slices 6
Horseradish sauce as you like
Sesame seeds as you like

Method

1
Put the cooked rice in a bowl and add 1 tbsp of the barbecue sauce and mix well.
2
Divide into 6 rice balls and shape like sausages.
3
Roll each in a pastrami slice slightly diagonally so that it is covered completely.
4
Put 4 tbsp barbecue sauce in a frying pan on medium heat and add Step 3.
5
The pastrami is already smoked and cooked so it doesn't need too long. Keep rolling them in the sauce to coat nicely.
6
Transfer to a serving dish and top with some horseradish sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Tips & Note

●You could try with any other favourite sauce, perhaps ketchup
●When you roll the rice balls in the pastrami, make sure it ends up at the base so that it sticks firmly
