Spicy Rice Balls with Cod Roe (Mentai Onigiri)

Season tinned cod roe with rice oil and soup stock and make it nice and spicy!

Ingredients

Cooked rice for 1
Tinned cod roe 1/2(100g)
Chilli oil 2 tsp
Mayonnaise 1 tbsp
Dashi stock granules 1 tsp
Sesame oil 1 tsp
Soy sauce 1 tsp
Spring onion 1
Nori sheet 1

Method

Cod roe is usually sold in 200g tins, use half of this. Put into a dish and microwave for 1 minute.

Add the cooked rice, chilli oil, dashi stock granules, mayonnaise, sesame oil, soy sauce and finely chopped spring onion and mix well.

Adjust the taste to your liking with more chilli oil, soy sauce etc.

Make rice balls to your favorite size and shape. You can make rice balls, triangles, round or square shapes. This time I made long rice balls.

Cut the nori sheet into 4 and wrap around each rice ball.
