Sausage & Fried Egg Rice Ball (Onigirazu)

Sausage with rice? Amazingly, it works!

Recipe By: Tobuchan (https://cookbuzz.com/kitchen/25)
Serves 1 Prep: 15 min Cook: 5 min

Ingredients

Cooked rice 100g
Your favourite sausage 1
Egg 1
Lettuce leaf 1
Ketchup as you like
Wholegrain mustard 1 tsp
Nori sheet 1

Method

1
Fry the sausage on medium heat (my photo shows 2 because I made this for 2 people).
2
Fry for 4-5 minutes, then cut into half lengthways and fry the inside well.
3
Make a fried egg.
4
Fry on medium heat for 1 minute then turn over and fry again for another minutes - this makes a sunny side up egg with a runny yolk.
5
Put 1 tbsp ketchup in the cooked rice and mix well.
6
On a chopping board, lay out some cling film and place the nori sheet on top in a diamond shape◆.
7
Put half the cooked rice in the centre and spread to 8-9cm round. Put the sausage across the rice.
8
Add 1 tsp ketchup and top with the fried egg and lettuce and remaining rice spread to cover.
9
Pinch the top and bottom corners of the nori sheet and fold to overlap in the centre. Cover with the cling film.
10
When the nori has stuck together, fold back the cling film. Pick up the left and right corners of the nori and fold to overlap in the centre.
11
Cover with the cling film and press down firmly to make a solid square shape.
12
Leave aside for 4-5 minutes until the nori completely seals the rice ball.
13
Cut in half with a wet knife across or diagonally to show off the separate layers (remember the direction you placed the sausage). Remove the cling film and serve.

Tips & Note

●When cutting in half, make sure you don't cut along the sausage as this will not look so attractive. One tip is to draw a line with a marker pen (on the outside of the cling film) and place the sausage across the line
●Cutting into diagonals is probably more trendy!
