Makes 16 Prep: 15 min Cook: 15 min

Ingredients

Hot cake mix 150g
Milk 100ml
Egg (medium) 1
Sausages (arabiki or chipolata) 16
Potato starch or cornflour as required
Cocktail sticks 16
Ketchup and mustard as you like

Method

1
Boil the sausages first for 3 minutes. Put the hot cake mix powder in a bowl with the egg and milk and whisk well.
2
Start the oil heating to 160C. Skewer the sausages with a cocktail stick to half way. Lightly dredge with the potato starch or cornflour.
3
Dip each sausage into the batter and coat liberally.
4
Deep fry in the hot oil for 3-4 minutes. It will brown very quickly, so keep the temperature just under 160C.
5
Being homemade, they look a bit odd but taste so wonderful. Drizzle over mustard and ketchup as you like.
6
I used this hot cake mix - it has everything in it already to make the delicious batter. It's sort of cheating but your guests will be happy!

Tips & Note

Challenge: if you use arabiki sausages and this hot cake mix, then drizzle with with ketchup and mustard and you don't enjoy it, I'd love to know why!
