Oven Baked Camembert Wrapped in Bacon

A popular recipe going around Japanese social media, it's even more delicious if you have it with maple syrup or golden syrup!

Serves 2 Prep: 5 min Cook: 20 min

Ingredients

Camembert cheese 1
Bacon rashers 5
Maple syrup or golden syrup or honey as required

Method

1
Preheat the oven 200C. Scrunch some aluminium foil and open out. Use 4 bacon rashers to lay in a cross then diagonally, as shown.
2
Place the Camembert cheese slap bang in the middle.
3
Lift the bacon rashers to fit over the cheese one by one, the bottom-most one first. If it doesn't cover fully, cut the last bacon rasher to fit and cover.
4
Place the cheese and foil on a baking tray and in the oven for 20 minutes.
5
Transfer to a serving dish together with any melted cheese and serve with a syrup alongside to dip into.

Tips & Note

Bacon and cheese are both a bit salty, so you really need something to counteract it, such as a sweet syrup.
