Pork & Beansprout Meatballs

This goes well in bento lunchboxes, or as a snack with beer.

Ingredients

Beansprouts 80g
Minced pork 250g
Egg (small) 1
Grated ginger 1 tsp
Spring onions 2
Potato starch 1.5 tbsp
Sesame oil as required
White sesame seeds as required
Salt as required
Sauce:
Soy sauce 2 tbsp
Fish sauce (nam pla) 1 tbsp
Sake 1 tbsp
Sugar 1 tbsp
Vinegar 1 tbsp
Chinese chilli bean sauce 1 tsp

Method

In a bowl, mix the minced pork by hand until it gets sticky.

Add the egg, ginger, finely chopped spring onions, potato starch and salt & pepper. Mix well.

Remove the sprouts from the beansprouts. Roughly chop them and dredge with the potato starch.

Add Step 3 to Step 2 and divide into 8-10 meatballs.

Put some oil in a frying pan on a low to medium heat, fry the meatballs until cooked.

Mix together all the sauce ingredients. Pour this over the cooked meatballs.

When they are coated in the sauce and become sticky, it's ready to serve.
