Layered Sausage & White Miso Oven Bake

The white miso sauce will really give this a good flavour!

Ingredients

Sausages 6
Rice cakes (mochi) 4 pieces
Bonito flakes as required
White miso sauce:
Butter 40g
Flour 40g
Milk 2.5 cups
Miso 2-3 tbsp

Method

Remove the sausagemeat from the skin and fry until separate in a frying pan on medium heat. Remove excess oil.

Coarsely grate the rice cakes.

Make the miso sauce: melt the butter in a pan and add the flour. Mix and fry on low heat.

Add the milk to the pan in one go and whisk to make a smooth sauce.

Take the pan off the heat and add the miso and mix well. Return to the heat for 2-3 minutes.

Place the sausage and white sauce in an ovenproof dish in two alternate layers and cover evenly with the grated mochi.

Sprinkle with the bonito flakes and put in a preheated oven 180C for 20 minutes. It's ready when it's nicely browned.

Tips & Note

●The sausagemeat works well as it's already pre-seasoned
