Ready Battered Cod with Udon Noodles

So simple once you've bought your battered cod, it takes five minutes if you have noodle stock. A great dish for a hot summer day.

Serves 1

Ingredients

Udon noodles 1 pack
Battered cod 1
Spring onions as required
Noodle stock as required
Alternatively:
Light soy sauce 2 tbsp
Mirin 2 tbsp
Dashi granules 1 tsp
Hot water 5 tbsp
Water as required

Method

1
These are the udon noodles I used, available in most supermarkets.
2
This is the battered cod I bought at a nearby fish and chip shop.
3
Make a dipping sauce with the noodle stock (or use the alternative ingredients).
4
Boil the udon noodles for 3 minutes.
5
In the meantime, prepare your favourite garnish (some wasabi or finely chopped spring onions, or shredded nori).
6
Once the noodles are boiled, rinse and cool under running water for 1 minute. Drain well and transfer to a serving dish with the cod and garnish, alongside the dipping sauce.

Tips & Note

This is not really a recipe but be careful when you buy the cod - don't buy the chips, and ask not to sprinkle salt or vinegar on the cod. The shopkeeper will be quite surprised I think.
